Pewaukee Lake Guide Trips 6-26-17

Pewaukee Lake Guide Trips 6-26-17Pewaukee Lake continues to be pumping out great panfish action for the kids of HookedUp101.

So good in fact that the kids have even resorted to getting experimental to see if they can catch fish using raisins for bait!

If you’re looking to learn more about how to get on consistent panfishing action on Pewaukee Lake with your own kids, feel free to get ahold of me!

The following video recaps trips for Sawyer and his friends Owen, and Noah as well as Owen’s trip with Colin, and Charlie.

Pewaukee Lake Guide Trips 6-20-17

Pewaukee Lake Guide Trips 6-20-17HookedUp101 began guide trips this week on Pewaukee Lake in partnership with the Pewaukee Park and Recreation Department!

Groups of up to 3 anglers are embarking on two 3-hour trips to learn the basics on how to enjoy fishing on Pewaukee Lake.

Tuesday June 20th saw 3 groups go out and become proficient at identifying at least 3 different freshwater fish species, utilizing a spinning rod/reel combo, applying a variety of
artificial and live bait presentations.

The kids are also interpreting down and side imaging sonar as well as GPS and lake counter mapping.

In addition, each participant will receive their very own Shakespeare rod/reel combo with a line, a tack pack sampler and a Hooked Up 101 Fishing Academy t-shirt following their last session.

The following video highlights the 3 groups who took part in the fishing action on Day 1 of these trips! Enjoy!

Guided Ice Fishing with Scouts from Hales Corners

Guided Ice Fishing with Scouts from Hales CornersThe Boy Scouts from Hales Corners, Wisconsin connected with HookedUp101 on Browns Lake in Burlington, WI for some basic ice fishing instruction this past Saturday.

img_0698The boys and their leaders participated in gaining insight into the necessary ice fishing safety equipment while learning the ins-and-outs of jigging for panfish with a Vexilar, and strategically setting tip-ups for Northern Pike.

Screen Shot 2015-02-16 at 8.01.38 AMWe set the boys up on a pronounced weed line allowing them the opportunity to set tip-ups on 6-8 feet of water and have nearby access to productive jigging areas for bluegill and perch in 10-14 feet of water.

img_0702As an educator, you’d think it would be frustrating to have your jigging instruction interrupted, but when you can barely get started because the tip-up flags start flying, you welcome the gleeful group disruption as it’s everyone racing off  through the snow to see what toothy surprise was waiting at the end of the line–instructor included  🙂

img_0697The day’s missions were accomplished as each of the boys became proficient at drilling an ice hole with an auger and setting at least one tip-up independently and with a partner.

019They also applied the Vexilar Jigging instruction with success as a few anglers hoisted a few bluegills to the surface after interpreting their presentation using this wonderful technology!

Finally, we went 4 for 6 on tip-up flags as each of the Scouts showed such enthusiasm and encouragement for their peers as they battled their respective 20-24″ Northern Pike!

024The highlight of the trip would have to be the fact that the newest member to the troop caught the first fish of his life during this outing (open water or through the ice). What a great fish to start out your career buddy!

This has been the 2nd time the Scouts from the Hales Corners area have been out with HookedUp101. It was encouraging to learn that they all learned at least one new piece of information regarding the sport of ice fishing that they hadn’t previously known!

If you are involved with scouts or have a contact within the scouting organization and feel they’d enjoy an entertaining and educational ice fishing adventure, please share the link to this post or have them contact me! I’d love to share this experience with more Scouts in the future!

Kids Ice Fishing Big Cedar Lake

HookedUp101 ice anglers, Mason, Spencer, Shaan, and Bonde enjoyed some panfishing while waiting for tip-ups on Big Cedar Lake in West Bend, Wisconsin.

The boys have been enjoying their friendship since the age of 3! Now they have another winter adventure to add to their list as they executed the basics of ice fishing to perfection while the Green Bay Packers were beating the Dallas Cowboys (26-21!)

Here’s a video recap of their Sunday afternoon spent catching bluegills, crappie, and northern pike!

As a team they iced 1- 23″ Northern Pike on a jig pole and over 20 panfish!
